Let us tell you about the name

Mương
A ditch that people dug long ago to bring water into the fields for daily life and for the fruit trees. It was also formed by the land’s own geology.
Đình
In the old days you would often come across a đình, a village communal house, in the Mekong Delta. In our grandparents’ time our hamlet had one too, believed to guard the area and keep it safe. Later, as life changed, the đình was no longer there.

That is how Mương Đình, the place where we live, got its name. But today you won’t see the ditch here any more: over time the land changed and widened, and the ditch has become a river. And one more change: Mương Đình now has many more guests coming to visit.

To us, living fully in the Mekong is more than a day of sightseeing and photos. It is a day of local life: gardening, cooking, the floating market, rowing along the canal with you, casting a net for fish, walking the orchards. Simple things like these let you settle in and feel the warmth of the people and the place.

Awaken all five senses

Birdsong mixed with the crowing of roosters; the smell of the kitchen and, further off, the scent of the orchards; a clear blue sky turning pink and orange. Mương Đình Lodge is a quiet place where nature brings stillness to a busy life, and where all your senses take in life most clearly.
